Project Summary

  • Advising National AIDS Control Project III under National Aids Control Organization (NACO) and providing technical inputs for implementation of Strategic AIDS Information Management System.
  • Strategic AIDS Information Management System focuses on program monitoring, evaluation, surveillance and knowledge gathering for people affected with HIV AIDS.
  • Strategic AIDS Information Management System has been designed to provide information on specified components to NACO and State Aids Control Societies to assist in program monitoring and planning.
  • A 3-tier data flow system, from around 7000 reporting units, has been designed, with the capability to handle state and district data for monthly and annual reports. Improved, streamlined reporting will allow health care workers at all district and state levels to provide better insights and oversight regarding the effectiveness of Targeted Interventions.
  • A concept of Health smart cards for HIV+ patients has been introduced to act as a portable medical record, ensuring data privacy and facilitating easy storage of data. It will ensure better monitoring and adherence to Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART).
  • In a networked environment the patient would be able to collect the stock of monthly medicines from any of the ART centers across the country and the transactions would be updated on the smart card as well as in the central/site database.
